Finding Your Wings And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then would I fly away and be at rest. Psalm 55:6 This troubled Psalmist had lost his song and wanted to escape from everything. This problem had caught him off guard. His fearful prayer is nearly filled with panic. And while it was right for him to pray in his time of trouble, but to ask for wings may have been looking to God for the wrong answer. Instead of flying away, we must be brave enough to face life’s hard realities. Wherever we are and whatever happens, we must make the best of situations as they are. You have no better opportunity to witness for God than when trouble invades your soul. This is why spiritual readiness is essential to life’s successful defense. The Caesars were not dethroned with a Christian religion at ease. When early Christianity stood up to life’s brutal facts, the crowns of empire were buried in the dust of the centuries. Today, our unjust and violent world is not too much for the Lord to handle. But we must experience the power and presence of Almighty God and the salvation of His Holy Son. We must keep in our history that religious experience which “has made and preserved us as a nation.” Let us wait upon the Lord, for “They that wait upon the Lord. . . .shall mount up with wings as eagles.” Let us be lifted into the confidence and strength of a redeemed character a renewed mind through Jesus. Ours is the triumph of righteousness! It is a strength of purpose that a new Christianity shall be born from the unprecedented troubles of this world. Todays Prayer Father God, I thank You for helping me to recover my happy song and the courage of prayer. Let my faith in You increase and uphold my life by the unfailing strength of Your Everlasting Arms. Keep me loyal to Your Son Jesus and to His Vision for my life. Allow me to hear the high callings on my life through Christ. Amen.
