Fishing Report for August 14 CENTRAL Draper: August 12. Elevation above normal, water 82. Channel and blue catfish fair on chicken liver and cut bait along riprap and shorelines. White bass and striped bass hybrids good on lipless baits, grubs and sassy shad, shad and chrome colors work best, at 3-6 ft. in the main lake, around points and rocks. Channel and blue catfish good on punch bait, dough bait and cut bait at 15-20 ft. along riprap and the main lake. Walleye fair on worms, crankbaits and minnows at 8-14 ft. in the main lake, drifting crawler rigs or trolling deep running crankbaits. Largemouth bass fair on jigs, crankbaits and spinnerbaits at 6-12 ft. along shorelines. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 15-20 ft. along riprap. Report submitted by Lucky Lure Tackle. Largemouth bass good on jigs, spinnerbaits and crankbaits along moss beds. Catfish good on stinkbait and fresh cut bait on bottom. Crappie fair on minnows at 14 ft. Channel, blue and flathead catfish fair on shad, cut bait and worms at 4-8 ft. in channels, the main lake and river channel. Blue and channel catfish fair on cut bait, stinkbait and shad at 2-6 ft. along flats, river channel and below the dam. White bass and striped bass hybrids fair on crankbaits, topwater lures, spoons and spinnerbaits from the surface to 30 ft. in the main lake and below the dam. Trolling on or near the main lake humps has been the most productive; some topwater surfacing early and late. Extreme caution is to be used while boating. The lake will remain drawn down for the next few months to allow vegetation to grow for waterfowl. Hazards exist throughout the lake. Coon Creek ramp is unusable for all boats. Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass fair on crankbaits, spinnerbaits and topwater lures at 3-15 ft. along brush structure, shorelines and points. Channel and blue catfish good on punch bait, shad and shrimp at 17-27 ft. along flats, points and river channel. Sunfish and bluegill excellent on worms at 10-20 ft. around docks. Channel catfish good on chicken liver, stinkbait, punch bait and worms at 10-15 ft. in channels, river mouth and river channel. Channel catfish fair on grasshoppers, shad, punch bait and worms at 10-30 ft. around points, creek channels and the main lake. Striped bass and white bass good on live shad, topwater lures, sassy shad and slabs at 10-20 ft. in the main lake and river channel from Platter Flats to Johnson Creek and west to the islands. Channel and blue catfish good on stinkbait, worms and live bait at 10-20 ft. in the mouth of the Washita River, cleaning stations, in the upper Red River to Fobb Bottoms and along riprap.
