Five Displaced Following Fire on Firglade Ave. in Springfield SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Five people have been temporarily forced from their home following a late morning fire in Springfield. Springfield Fire Deputy Chief of Operations Glenn Guyer says that crews were called to 130-132 Firglade Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Friday for a report of a fire. When firefighters arrived, Guyer explains they found smoke and fire on a second floor porch and that the fire had extended into part of the home. Five residents have been displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross and family members. Guyer adds that the fire was caused by careless disposal of smoking materials on that second floor porch. No injuries were reported. The fire is estimated to have caused between $30,000 and $35,000 in damage.
