Focus 2014 Awards Having not entered any competitions since last year, I decided to enter the Focus 2014 (Australian Seascape and Landscape) Awards this year. The awards are judged by some of Australias most respected landscape photographers (Christian Fletcher, Tony Hewitt and David Oliver) and its a great opportunity to assess how my images perform in the eyes of the top professionals. I entered the Open category for the first time (open to both amateurs and professionals) and finally managed to snag that elusive Silver Award for the first time. The other three images scored Bronze Awards (75-80 points) with scores of 79, 78 and 78. Silver image to follow. Looking back on the photos Ive taken in the last 12 months Id say the best images have come from being patient and revisiting the same locations until the conditions are at their best - Hanging Rock was the fifth visit (still a work in progress) and Sugarloaf Rock took three visits over two day to get the best light on the rock and decent clouds. The Kosciusko snow shot was scouted out in the day and we just happened to get a killer sunset and beautiful light. Go outside and have a great weekend! Lewis Fogerty Photography Lewis Fogerty
