For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. --John 3:16-- For us to have everlasting life (salvation) we need to BELIEVE GODs only begotten son JESUS.... The word believeth mentioned in the verse in the original scripts of the bible means: to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing), that is, credit ; by implication to entrust (especially ones spiritual well being to Christ): - believe (-r), commit (to trust), put in trust with. Original: πιστεύω Transliteration: pisteuō Phonetic: pist-yoo-o So, this implies that simply saying i do believe in JESUS isnt enough. We need to prove it.... Believing in JESUS truly means: 1. to have faith in Him. 2. to respect Him. 3. By implication to entrust ones whole being especially spiritual well being to Christ. 4. To commit ourselves to Him. 5. To serve Him. 6. To put our trust in Him.. Believing in JESUS means surrendering our lives to JESUS and accepting HIM as our SAVIOUR and GOD in every aspect of our life, following HIS will and not ours....thats the only way to salvation not religion, not good deeds, not anyone, not even devotion to saints, ONLY JESUS....
