For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “ Be removed and be cast into the sea, ” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. - Mark 11:23 Jesus says, “...but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Believers often overlook this magnificent truth, namely that we can receive what we ask for. We believers are often unaware of the incredible power in our words. Man is created differently from animals. We are created in the image of God, and we communicate with words. Words communicate. Words create, confirm, paint, direct, express and establish. Jesus says that words can even move a mountain. We are accustomed to using words when we come to God in prayer. We speak, cry out, pray and even beg God for certain things. But we have often not understood that we can also speak out God’s Word, His promises, concerning our circumstances. Jesus is not referring to speaking to God about the mountain but speaking to the mountain in faith. Faith comes through the will of God. God’s promises reveal His will. So with our heart full of God’s promises, we can speak to that mountain—and the mountain is cast into the sea. The mountain represents negative circumstances, unmovable problems and opposition in our life. With our own strength, we cannot change these things. But God has provided a way for you and me to see miracles in our circumstances, namely to speak out His Word, which is in our heart, against the mountains that rise up against us. When we do this, without doubting in our heart, He promises that, whatever we ask, we will receive. There is incredible power in the spoken Word; not even mountains can stand in the way.
