For the fourth consecutive year, the New York State Legislature has passed a balanced, bipartisan and on-time budget that reflects our constituents’ values. This fourth on-time budget is a historic feat that hasnt been accomplished in nearly four decades; thanks to Republicans and Democrats working together to deliver real results. This budget helps our schoolchildren by increasing aid to education by $1.1 billion dollars and delaying the implementation of Common Core. It also provides a much needed increase in aid to be used in our fight against drug abuse, specifically our states heroin epidemic. These moneys will help our state’s ability to fight drug addiction, work towards prevention and increase treatment. Locally, this budget saves Sagamore Childrens Psychiatric Center and ensures that important facility will remain open to provide its vital services on children in need of treatment. Finally, this budget enacts a new Property Tax Rebate program that will provide $1.5 billion in additional tax relief to hard working taxpayers over the next three years. This budget shows our commitment to help our constituents and does so without raising taxes.
