For those in and around Amsterdam on Friday January 30th - TR/ST will join HELENA HAUFF and RUDE 66 during the next edition of Grauzone festival! Im not sure why I like this project so much as Im not too fond of these harsh and razor-sharp productions heard on the mainstream radio stations and in modern clubs today, but ever since I got to know this one-man operation thanks to Visconti I have been enjoying the works that were released on a daily basis. Robert Alfons knows exactly how to evoke very powerful melancholic emotions. By combining his very unique baritone voice with powerful darkwave beats and straight-into-your-face trance-like synthesizers, he is able to create some of the most astonishing synth-pop I have ever heard. His compositions are full of extremely clever hooks and while most of the stories told are absolutely depressing the backing tracks are extremely stimulating and just simply want to make you freak out. His Gloryhole track is a perfect example of this and its definitely one of those power songs that I keep reaching out to during my DJ sets. Its effect is so full on - I can almost see everyones head explode once the drops kick in. It always brings tears of joy on the faces of the people around me. There is nothing quite like it..
