For those of you waiting with bated breath, my official response - TopicsExpress

For those of you waiting with bated breath, my official response to last nights NASCAR mayhem. If you need a refresher: The incident: https://youtube/watch?v=2aRTImQBcPw&index=3&list=UUuN9hYw2RpoAW8rZ3VK3isA The aftermath: https://youtube/watch?v=2aRTImQBcPw&index=3&list=UUuN9hYw2RpoAW8rZ3VK3isA FULL DISCLOSURE: Yes, Im a Jeff Gordon fan. First and foremost, that was a racing incident, no doubt. However, that racing incident comes with caveats. Im fine with Gordon taking the outside on the restart. Hed been on the outside for multiple restarts all day and did great. On top of that, he though Harvick would be the faster of he and Brad, so Jeff wanted to start in front of him and hopefully impede his momentum. JG didnt get the best start, but he was right there. Yes, a hole opened up. BUT, yes, thats a hole that 100% of the time closes right back up, because its a hole created by the guy on the outside arcing the car to get a run coming out of the corner. Brad had every right to put his car there, but he also, unless hes an idiot, had no right to believe it wouldnt close on him. It worked at Chicago, it didnt work here. I dont think you blame Jeffs spotter, I dont think you blame Brad for trying, but heres where I get mad. Brad wants to win a title, no doubt. SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE. If Brads going to make a move like that, knowing full well its risky and theres almost a guarantee there will be contact, he has to be prepared for some anger if it doesnt work out. Last night, it didnt work out. And sure enough, he once again refuses to stand in there and talk to the guy he pissed off. His crew is once again there to protect him. He once again sounds like a wounded deer trying to defend himself. He gets out of the melee, and once again hes back to being all tough in his interview when people arent trying to punch him in the face. Im mad as a Gordon fan that Jeff lost, but honestly my biggest beef is Brad pissing off yet ANOTHER Chase driver and once again neglecting to be a man and own up to it. You want to talk about how the sport was built on rubbing and contact? It was also built on guys settling it outside of the car and not running off to their hauler when their opponent got in their face. I really used to like Brad, but its just getting so hard when he consistently drives like, as Harvick put it, a bulldozer and then refuses to admit that theres any possibility of gray area where what he does isnt 100% okay and perfect.
