For you are not a true Jew just because you were born of Jewish - TopicsExpress

For you are not a true Jew just because you were born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the ceremony of circumcision. No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by God’s Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people. Romans 2:28-29 (NLT) Who are you trying to please? Are we trying to please a set of creeds and rules or are we trying to please God? The physical sign of circumcision is not enough whether you are a Jew or a Gentile. True Judaism is found in those who are righteous before God. All the outward signs of religion may earn us praise from men, but they will not earn us praise from God. The evidence of our rightness with God is not contained in outward signs or works. Nor is it not assured because of our parents’ religion. Evidence is found in the work of God in our hearts, which shows itself in fruit our lives produce. As a believer we are to be fruit producing. It does not matter how much our parents have produced, or our spouse, or our children have produced it is based upon your life and relationship with Christ. There are no grandchildren in the kingdom of God. Much in the manner how Jews insured all their children were circumcised, we need to insure that our children are raised with Christ circumcised upon and in their hearts. We can nil afford to let the world teach our children who Christ is. The schools and television are teaching them values which do not coincide with Christian values and ethics. As parents were are responsible for teaching our children the Word of God. Likewise as followers of Christ we are responsible to teach Christian principles and morals to new believers, we are not to let them wallow in the past life, but teach them of the new life Christ has given them.
