For you hunters out there: Facts and Statistics my husband learned at their Game Commission meeting today. Pennsylvania used to be #5 out of the states for Road Killed Deer. We are now #1. In 1995 the average hunter would see 1 - 5 deer per square mile. That statistic is matched at 1-5 today. During GPS monitoring The Game Commission found that Bucks tend to sick to higher ground and mountain tops more, particularly 4-5 year old Bucks. whereas does like low lying ground. Bucks tend to avoid major roads and highways by at least 1,000 yards. The average hunter goes into the woods about 300 - 350 yards. So guys, you need to go 3-4 times deeper into the woods, if you want those Bucks!
