Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday expressed delight - TopicsExpress

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday expressed delight and appreciation to God that the All Progressives congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), deemed it fit to visit him during his campaign tour of Ogun State. It was a different ball game on Monday when the presidential candidate of his own party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan, was in the state. It was widely reported that the former president sneaked out of his Hilltop residence in the state capital apparently to avoid t President Jonathan. It had taken the intervention of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and his Living Faith Church (aka Winners Chapel) counterpart, Bishop David Oyedepo, for Obasanjo to agree to meet Jonathan. But during Buhari’s visit, Obasanjo said he had prayed and longed to have the APC presidential candidate visit him and had had to cancel all his engagements for the day to receive the Katsina State-born army general-turned politician. Obasanjo welcomed Buhari this way, “Let me wel come all of you; but let me, in a special way, welcome Muhammadu. Our path have crossed on a number of occasions and when I was told you are going to be coming to Ogun State, I wasn’t sure whether you will come here or not though I had prayed you would. Since I was not sure, I told my boys; I said “Well, whatever programmes we have outside Ogun State for today, let us shelve it just in case Muhammadu and his party and his team decide to call here.”
