Forty years ago today, you were born. Mom and Dad brought you home, and everything changed forever. I have no memories of life without you. All my earliest memories contain you. Even the dimmest ones that might very well be pre-verbal contain an infant brother in a car seat or stroller. Of course there were fights. Little kid arguments over which TV shows to watch – Dukes of Hazzard or Little House on the Prairie. Or maybe, who ate the last of the ice cream. But now I realize we got along pretty well. Making up songs and stories and even languages together -- remember “bunga beer”? I had a partner in crime, sneaking out to the garage together to eat an entire package of cream cheese. I had an ally in exploration, discovering amazing and mysterious green slime at the bottom of a Sedona river. And I had a friend for life. I’m so grateful to you. For teaching me to share, teaching me patience, giving me courage, and giving me a reason to make up my first song (to cheer you up when you were sad – I rhymed “Greg” with “turtle egg”). You continue to be the best brother anyone could ever want. And even though it’s been decades since we’ve lived in the same state, I feel our connection has grown stronger through the years. I’m so glad you are my brother. I’m so glad we’re getting to share this life’s adventure together. I’m thrilled to see you so happy in life and I love the sister-in-law and nieces and nephew you’ve given me (including Quadsi on the way!!!!). And most of all, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one Mom dressed up in a giant bunny costume! Happy 40th Birthday Gregeeeee!! There isn’t enough space on the whole internet to express how much I love you!!
