Four comments for all the fans--sorry no time for a video now! 1) You think that Navy Pier had a parade of boats? Check out the tracker now for a PARADE of boats to the finish. Like last year, the fleet is coming in non-stop--though last year it was Tuesday morning. 2) Dire model predictions of winds in the Straits shutting down have not come true. The fleet is moving fast. Winds did go more SWly in the straits causing more boats to have to jibe to the finish. Breezes are solid. 3) I hope you all have been following the amazing battles for position in the fleet. There are too many to mention that have been settled by seconds--pretty amazing stuff when you consider that a 300 mile races can come down to that small of a margin, isnt it? 4) Two things Im watching on the course: (a) Providence, owned by the Miareckis, is currently in the virtual lead for the Trophy Division. A quick record search--and Greg Miarecki will kill me for not knowing this--is if they hold on, it will be three division wins in a row! (b) in the T-10s, there is a hot and heavy battle between Cheap Thrill (Tim and Nancy Snyder) and Waterworks (Rick and Mary Ann Lillie). The two boats have separated from this very competitive fleet and have been absolutely neck and neck--right on top of each other--since Grays Reef. Great stuff!
