The lower the score, the better the press freedom #status. Only 1 in 7 people live in a country with a free press. #Globalpressfreedom has #fallen to its lowest level in over a decade, according to the latest edition of #FreedomHouses press freedom #survey. The decline was driven in part by #major egression in several #MiddleEasternstates, including #Egypt, #Libya, and #Jordan; marked #setbacks in #Turkey, #Ukraine, and a number of countries in #East frica; and #deterioration in the #relativelyopenmediaenvironment of the #UnitedStates. Freedom of the Press 2014 found that despite positive developments in a number of countries, most notably in #subSaharanAfrica, the #dominanttrends were reflected in #setbacks in #everyotherregion.
