*Friday flashback For all of my new likes I thought I would share! The name Moxie and Zab just came to me one day. Moxie is a word I had heard of years ago. In the simplest sense of the word it means to have guts or as I like to say girl balls. Zab is from my maiden name Zabehaylo. After completing Interior Design at Fanshawe and then getting a Fine Arts Degree at Western I married my high school sweetie and had a son, Nolan and a daughter Peyton. I quit my job managing a flooring store and started my company without knowing it. In 1998 after my daughter was born I bought my first machine at Walmart and took a sewing class to create a brown velvet jacket for Peyton that I was picturing in my head. After making it and loving the creative process I then began to make blankets for friends who were all having babies. My friend Lorraine liked hers so much she asked me to make one for a gift for her friend....Thats it! Well not exactly I supposed I learned to sew through osmosis. My mother ( Mary Anne Borowsky) , who sadly passed away from breast cancer when I was in second year Fanshawe for Interior Design was an amazing seamstress. She was just starting to design a line of clothing when she became sick. My Dad( Mike Zabehaylo) a now retired principle, has alway been a learner. I realize I am one two. I love to learn new things. He has done everything from stain glass to photography. My Dad has also always supported my dreams and my ideas to become what I want to be, he has always been the greatest example of unconditional love! I work out of my home studio and have had the pleasure of fully participating in Nolan (18) and Peyton (16) school, sports activities as well as home lives and get to create on top of it. I now do about 10 shows and sell to 10 shops as well as custom and sales from FB. I design, cut and sew everything , with a little help from Brian and the kids, in my pet free, smoke free home in London, Ont. I learn new things to honour my fabulous , generous, funny, Dad. I sew in memory of my beautiful, sensitive, loving, Mom. I create because I am alive!
