Friday sermon: Ethical behaviour the basis of good manners. A Muslim should be a polite, lovable, good-mannered person, worshippers will be reminded on Friday. “When Prophet Mohammed was asked about the truth of faith, he connected it to ethical manners,” Friday’s sermon says. As a companion of the Prophet reported; he once went to Prophet Mohammed and asked him what is Islam? And the Prophet replied it is good speech and feeding food. Then the companion asked what is faith? “Patience and forgiveness,” came the reply. Then he asked which Islam is better. The Prophet said: “One whom Muslims were saved from his tongue and hand.” Then the companion asked which faith is better, and the Prophet replied: “a nice ethic”. Therefore, one who seeks to fulfil his faith should love good for all people, “and love for them what he loves for himself”, continues the sermon. As a hadith by Prophet Mohammed says: “None of you is a believer until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” Therefore, one should cleanse himself from envy and hatred, and treat people with wisdom and logic. Islam teaches us to invest in building individuals and countries, and prohibits murder and conspiracy. “And no building will rise, nor a foundation will be set if the hearts disputed and people thought bad of each other.” It also requires that you treat each other with justice. A verse from the Quran says: “ O ye who believe! Be steadfast witnesses for Allah in equity, and let not hatred of any people seduce you that ye deal not justly. Deal justly, that is nearer to your duty. Observe your duty to Allah. Lo! Allah is informed of what ye do.”
