Friends, thank you so very much for your reassuring comments and constructive criticism regarding my role as admin for this group. I was overwhelmed and felt blessed with so much support from you. Tomorrow will be the first day of a new year. I hope with all my heart that our leaders consider personal resolutions to become more effective communicators. I have been so disappointed in the way most of them have communicated thus far. One of them actually sent a private message reminding me that citizens could simply attend the meetings to find out whats going on in Highlands. Really? Its that simple?? Obviously, they just dont get it. Only Doug Card replied to our collective request for a year-end report and many of his fellow council members attacked him. They not only attacked, but they circled their wagons and started attacking me. Really?? They dont understand what we need because they dont listen and/or they simply dont care. And as Ive said before, one of them actually told me theyre just too busy doing their jobs and dont have time to communicate. REALLY! One of the council members is actually in charge of communications and we havent heard a word from this person. What is going on in this town? Why is it so difficult to communicate when we have a number of vehicles available to do so? Perhaps our leaders have something to hide. Maybe they dont want to tell us whats going on because they might have to change the way theyre doing things. Maybe they simply dont care. Maybe they have their own agenda and it does not include us. We can create as many Facebook pages and groups as we like, but I dont believe it will change the attitude of our leaders with respect to communicating whats going on. And I couldnt tell you whether Doug Card is doing a good or bad job as a council member, but I can tell you hes communicating. He respects us. He understands our need for communications. And so he keeps us informed. Im tired of complete and utter silence from our leaders except when its time for an election. And so... Im back.
