From Flying Pig Marathon Executive Director Iris Simpson Bush: “Today marks a sad anniversary in our sport, as it was one year ago today that the running world was shaken by two blasts at the Boston Marathon finish line. “While the bombings changed our events forever, they did not change our runners’ and walkers’ resolve to continue in the sport we all love and respect. “To remember those who died and who were gravely injured in Boston, we ask that today, at 2:49 p.m. EDT, the time of the first blast, you pause to honor the victims, and the brave bystanders, EMTs and police officers who responded so quickly at the blast site. “And because of your generosity in purchasing Flying Pig “Boston Strong” shirts and wristbands at the P&G Expo last year, we were able to donate more than $53,000 to the One Fund Boston in your name. Thank you for being devoted to our sport and to the Flying Pig Marathon as today, we all stand ‘Boston Strong.’”
