From Jacquie Parker: The nursing home in Weed is reopening tomorrow afternoon, and will start receiving back patients, who were quickly evacuated to five different sites, only one of which was equipped to properly care for them. This is a population that does not handle stress well, and many have no relatives or personal advocates. The nursing home ( Shasta View) has eight employees who lost their homes, so staffing is a challenge. Even the staff that can return are stressed, as friends lost homes. No one is unaffected. I am asking for volunteers to assist in resettling these patients. All physical and medical work will be done by professionals, but I would like an advocate for each patient, someone to listen to their story, to reassure them they will be cared for, to get them juice. Basically a one on one friend for the day. I anticipate eight re-admits tomorrow afternoon, more on Sat, more again on Sun.
