From Legislator Troiano: Last night the Westbury NAACP hosted a debate between Tom Suozzi and Ed Mangano. The attendees were poised to hear a lively discussion from the proponents of two very different visions for leading our county into the future. The only problem—Ed Mangano failed to show up. Mangano’s failure is not only a snub to our community, but it is disrespectful to the NAACP, the iconic civil rights organization, and all it stands for. The Mangano snub adds insult to the injury he caused when he defunded youth service organizations and cut resources to other programs which provide much-needed services to those in need. I shouldn’t be surprised by his insensitivity to our community. Last year he told Newsday “we are in line with Tea Party principles” and earlier this month said he “welcomes Tea Party support” (New York Times, October 1, 2013). Send a message to Ed on Election Day! Say NO to Manga-no!
