From Rob Mishler, and he says feel free to share: A letter for your Monday Morning. Please feel free to share: Dear Robert, Article I, Section 1 of the United States Constitution isnt hard to understand: All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives. Congress makes the laws in this country, plain and simple. Its high time the president enforce the law instead of his own political preferences. Thats why I co-sponsored and the House passed two bills this week aimed at reining in executive overreach and restoring the lawmaking authority of Congress. I hear all the time from people who want to know how and why things are happening in Washington the way that they are--why President Obama feels his pen and his phone are all he needs to govern as he sees fit. The bills we passed this week arent just about President Obama, however. Theyre about any president now or in the future who thinks this sort of executive action is appropriate. I hope youll read about the ENFORCE the Law Act and the Faithful Execution of the Law Act, and as always, tell me what you think. Sincerely, Doug Collins Member of Congress __________________________________________________________ Dear Congressman Collins, It would have been great if you were among the representatives that voted to give President Bush all those powers that you say are unconstitutional as you would certainly have voted against giving a president all that power, but alas you were not elected yet. However one of your party was, did sign away his and his fellow Congressional Constitutional power and is now sitting the Georgia governors mansion and doing the same thing all over again so that he can pass the buck. Its too bad we did not have a stalwart like you in office at that time. Just for the record if you are up in arms about President Obama using executive orders (as FOX News states: More than any president in recent history) here are some easily acquired facts (should anyone care to look for them): 1st:: Executive Orders are numbered in succession. 2nd: With the exceptions of G.H.W. Bush and Gerald Ford (both of whom were not 8 year presidents) President Obama has written fewer Executive Orders than any president since John F. Kennedy. I present those statistics below and they come from this website: presidency.ucsb.edu/executive_orders.php?year that is used specifically for tracking Executive Orders (apparently “FOX News” doesnt have internet access or they could have found this out before spreading out right bullshit): Kennedy – 2+ years in office from January 1961 to November 1963 (assassinated on 11-22-1963). Starting with Executive Order # 10914 dated 01-23-1961 and ending with EO # 11127 dated 11-09-1963 = 213 Total EO’s signed. Johnson - 5+ years in office from November 22nd, 1963 to January 1969 (apparently Johnson couldn’t wait to sign an EO) Starting with EO # 11128 dated 11-23-1963 and ending with EO # 11450 dated 01-18-1969 = 322 Total EO’s signed. Nixon - 5+ years in office from January 1969 to August 1974 (resigned his presidency) Starting with EO # 11456 dated 02-14-1969 and ending with EO # 11796 dated 07-30-1974 = 340 Total EO’s signed. Ford - 2+ years in office from July 1974 to January 1977 (completed Nixon’s 2nd term) Starting with EO # 11798 dated 08-14-1974 and ending with EO # 11966 dated 01-19-1977 = 168 Total EO’s signed. Carter - 4 years in office from January 1977 to January 1981 Starting with EO # 11967 dated 01-21-1977 and ending with EO # 12286 dated 01-19-1981 = 319 Total EO’s signed. Reagan - 8 years in office from January 1981 to January 1989 Starting with EO # 12287 dated 01-28-1981 and ending with EO # 12667 dated 01-18-1989 = 380 Total EO’s signed. GHW Bush - 4 years in office from January 1989 to January 1993 Starting with EO # 12668 dated 01-25-1989 and ending with EO # 12833 dated 01-19-1993 = 165 Total EO’s signed. Clinton - 8 years in office from January 1993 to January 2001 Starting with EO # 12834 dated 01-20-1993 and ending with EO # 13197 dated 01-18-2001 = 363 Total EO’s signed. GW Bush - 8 years in office from January 2001 to January 2009 Starting with EO # 13198 dated 01-29-2001 and ending with EO # 12833 dated 01-16-2009 = 290 Total EO’s signed. Obama 5 years in office (so far) from January 2009 to present March 2014 Starting with EO # 13489 dated 01-21-2009 and ending with EO # 13659 dated 02-19-2014 = 170 Total EO’s signed. By the way I have presented this information to both newspapers ion Fannin County and it has been printed in one of them so far. I have also shared the information across north Georgia and especially in the 9th US District so your constituents have access to factual information as well as FOX News fairy tales. Have a great day and please do something good for the country. Sincerely, Robert Mishler Registered Georgia Voter and your employer
