From TomDispatch today, a summer special in honor of Jonathan - TopicsExpress

From TomDispatch today, a summer special in honor of Jonathan Schell, who died in March. His 2003 book The Unconquerable World caught his most prophetic and farseeing side. In it, he essentially foresaw the Arab Spring and the role people power might play in a world in which violence had, in the previous century, already outrun the war system that had long contained it. I’ve chosen a powerful passage from the book that catches just what it meant (and in our chaotic world still means) for the U.S. to have chosen the “unipolar” path of war after 9/11. It remains eerily on target more than a decade later. I’m proud to have it at TD. Hope you’ll repost it. Tom tomdispatch/blog/175871
