From the Desk of Jen Botha Thinking aloud with my pen……. Daily devotions 2 – 7 June 2014 It is hard to think that we are in the 6th month of this year already! I would like to thank all who came to the church on Saturday 31 May to pack the food we sent to the families of the miners in Rustenburg. I am so deeply moved by the willingness of all who came to help! Thank you so very much!! And we journey further! Monday 2 June 2014 Reading: Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for human beings. Reflection: We all know just how hard we work to impress others, especially our boss! We know how we put in the extra mileage so that we can achieve that extra point on the performance rating so that we increase our chances of better promotion, salary or benefits! We work so hard to please people! We try and try and then try some more to make sure that the people we need to impress are suitably impressed with our work! We try to please people! What would it be like if we worked so hard to please our Lord? What would it be like if we worked for an audience of One? God is always watching us, not to check up on us, but rather because He cares so deeply about us. God watches our hearts and our attitudes all the time. He wants us to be the people that He designed us to be, people who do their best because that is what He would require of us. We can choose to work for the audience of One. We can choose to do our work to His good pleasure. The amazing thing is that as we choose to work as if we are doing it for God alone, it changes everything that we do. We find ourselves in the space where we do everything to the best of our ability because God loves us. Will you dedicate your work to Him today, and do everything as if He is the only one who is watching you? Breath- prayer: Father thank you for being interested in all that I do. Thank you that You want me to do it better every day! In Jesus name, Amen
