It hurts worse than anything you can imagine. You may have rejected others, but when you get a taste of it yourself, it can make you want to call up every single person you have ever mistreated and say, “I am so sorry!” Rejection is like the truth, it’s easy to give but very difficult to receive. It can cause you to question who you are. “Why did they reject me? There must be something wrong with me.” So you over analyze yourself and try to figure out why. I’ve even told myself, “Im the best person anyone could ever meet! I don’t get rejected!” And then moments later, I’m crying while googling “how to cope with a break up.” Lord have mercy. Everything just stopped in my life. It was like a song put on pause. But God came and pressed play! He gave me my life back, He gave me my smile back and my identity back. If you’ve experienced rejection, it does get better down the road. You do heal eventually. You come to respect yourself again and love YOU. You learn to not take what people do so personally. Yes, by all means accept your part in it, then forgive yourself and move on. The best friend you can be is a friend to yourself! Learn to see negative experiences as iron that sharpens you, not as a mirror that causes you to rethink who you are. God’s Word is our only mirror. We look into it and see ourselves. Let those experiences that God allowed you to go through make you better, wiser and stronger. Amid all of the hurtful feelings and emotions, knowing how God feels about you is the perfect remedy to help ease your pain.
