GO ON GOD, TELL ME, Think with my heart, feel with my mind, Write with my blood, love mankind. Know no want, accept all giving, Give what I get, go on living. Fear, hate, power, shun all three, Follow a river, run to be free. Befriend storms, cherish enemies, Speak the truth at every turn. Share all I know, no matter how, Wear my skin close to the bone. But why double standards, God, What do I have that others do not? All your blessings have a twist, The rain that feeds also floods. All that is still, is moving fast, This Earth, the Sun, the Universe. And such a curse of human ills, He who loves, also kills. Greed, lies, deception, envy befriend All men and nations, there is no end. So why ask me God, I who am At odds with myself, mean and small In so many ways unable to tell Zero from infinity, Greedy and selfish, calculating ends, Coarse and bigoted, and for all, Making no amends? Just the sort of ordinary man, Desiring no better, getting no less. But if you must, then tell me, God, How does a tree grow? Why a dog barks or a bee stings? Where do the stars disappear? Who are we, and what becomes of us Once the stone falls? Such questions I fear to ask, And fear I must when I dont know, But I will try, I promise you, For you must know, What I dont know!
