GOD is NOT a Man. GOD is NOT a woman. Nobody knows what GOD is. - TopicsExpress

GOD is NOT a Man. GOD is NOT a woman. Nobody knows what GOD is. EVERYONE use some image or idol as a means to worship that God. In the true definition of IDOLATORY, using any form in worship such as images, ideas, and objects, constitute idolatry, and such everyone on earth is an idolater, whether he or she wants to admit that or not. The cross in the Church, statues of Virgin Mary, statues of Patron saints, pictures and statues of Jesus Christ are all idols in the true definition of an idol. We Hindus do not worship idols or icons. Hindus like anyone else, only use idols as a means to worship God without any name and form. Hindus never ever say or believe Idol is God. GOD is nameless and formless and timeless. All Hindu scriptures repeatedly assert that and nobody can say other wise. Hindus allow to use idols to concentrate on a God who has no form during the initial stages worship…… So idols are ONLY AIDS. They are NOT A MUST in anyone’s worship of God. Our Rishis knew that ordinary people with simple untrained minds, would find it difficult to concentrate on a NAMELESS and FORMLESS GOD. Ordinary people cannot not resist the forces of distraction. So Rishis allowed people to use the idol as the central point of concentration, to focus their minds, meditate and communicate with God. Once a devotee is spiritually evolved, he or she does not need any idol or image to worship God. In fact, as we grow in our spirituality, our PERSONAL GOD in our view will be automatically transformed to a NAMELESS, FORMLESS GOD. In Vedas as well as in Upanishads you will see no mention of idols. ONCE AGAIN, Idol worship is only an aid to concentrate on God during initial stages of worship of God. …… Eventually, a devotee who spiritually matures will not need any idol to worship God.
