GODS GRACE TEACHES US TITUS 2:11-14 11. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12. Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13. Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14. Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. My Friends.... This Is Such An Important Scripture Passage....... The Very First Insight We Are Given Is That Salvation Comes To Us Through The Agency Of The Grace Of God and That This Principle Of Salvation By The Grace Of God Has Appeared To All Men........ Then....... We see that All The Instructions given in verses 12-14 arise out of this basic revelation of The Grace Of God..!!!!! Now...... Looking At The Truth From These Verses.... FIRST: It is the Grace Of God Which Brings Salvation.!! ((Ephesians 2:8-9 For By Grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.)) SECOND: The Means Of Salvation Has Appeared To All Men.!! ((Romans 1:18-20 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all Ungodliness and Unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19. Because that which may be known of God is Manifest In Them; for God hath Shewed It Unto Them. 20. For the invisible things of him (God), from the creation of the world, are Clearly Seen, being understood by the Things That Are Made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are Without Excuse....)) The God revealed to us in the Christian Bible, is a Fair and Just God. He has made provision for every man to have the opportunity for salvation. But as we see from Romans chapter 1, not all men will act upon the revelation given them. God says in the Book Of Romans that at the very least, every man can observe from Gods Natural Creation, The Fact Of His Existence and His Eternal Power and Godhead...... So That On Judgment Day they are without excuse for having rejected the Revelation God Gave Them...... THIRD: We now come to the Instructions/Teachings Coming To Us From GRACE...... Gods Grace Teaches Us Certain Eternal Truths.... 1.) GRACE Says we are to Deny Ungodliness and Worldly Lusts..... ((The Modifying Prefix Un in front of the word Godliness..... Is very important to understand. The Prefix Un means NO or None....... So the Word Ungod would mean..... NO GOD..... Having No God.!!)) NOW..... Notice the word used in Titus.... Ungodliness........ This word means: Behavior and Lifestyle and Life Beliefs which originate from a decision to live as though there is NO GOD..... Being A God Unto Yourself..... ((Which Is The Very Temptation The Serpent Presented To Our Original Parents Adam and Eve..... Eat This Forbidden Fruit and You Will Be As God Yourself..!!!!)) Choosing to reject the Rules Of God and Setting Your Own Rules..... Living Without The Governing Principles Of God..... Rejecting A Supreme Creator Who Has THE RIGHT To Set The Rules.!! God tells us here in The Book Of Titus that The Grace Which Saves Us..... Will Then Teach Us..... That The God Who Redeemed Us..... HAS THE RIGHT To Expect Us To Submit To His Authority..... Gods Grace Teaches The Redeemed Heart That It Should Avoid..... Deney...... Ungod - Nogod Behaviors and Lifestyles....... Next.... The Scripture tells us what Ungod-liness looks like....... It Is called Worldly Lusts....... Those Attitudes Of The Un-Converted Soul.!! ((Notice what Scripture says about this Present World..... 1st John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the Whole World lieth in wickedness.)) This Whole World Is Under The Control and Governed By The Spirit Of That Wicked One... Satan.!!! In Titus God Says That Saving Grace So Deeply Changes The Redeemed Heart, that the New Christian begins to live by a Brand New Life Principle..... Embracing The Authority/Lordship Of Jesus Christ..... And No Longer Being Guided/Controlled By The Lusts/Spirit Of Wickedness In The World..!! In Verse 13 the writer says that this New Creation.... New Christian.... Should Live Every Day With An Expectancy Of The Imminent Return Of That Great God Our Saviour Jesus Christ....... Again..... The Scripture Is Telling Us What Saving Grace Teaches Us...... In this case it is the lesson that Christians Are To Hold Onto The Sense Of Jesus Imminent Return..... ((For it is the Fact Of His Possible Return At Any Moment.... Which Keeps Our Heart Warmed With Hope..... And Aids Us In Being Diligent To Avoid Un-Godliness and Worldly Lusts.!!)) Finally..... Verse 14...... The Word Peculiar is the Greek Word Periousios.... Which means: Belonging To One As A Possession.... A Purchased One.!! God says in Verse 14 that HE GAVE HIMSELF TO PURCHASE US.... We Belong To Him By Blood Sacrifice.!!! This is Very Important.!! It Elevates Gods Expectations Of Us... From Simply Suggestions.... To His Rules For Life.!! No Longer Can We Live As Though There Is No God..... As He Says In Vere 12..... With Un-God/No-God Mindsets and Behaviors..... Ungod-liness..!! Gods Grace Saves Us....... Then Grace Teaches Us To Live In Love With God..... and Pursuing His Character and Thinking as our daily reality of life.
