***GORGEOUS RONNIE NEEDS ALL THE HELP SHE CAN GET TONIGHT..PLEASE SHARE FOR A FOSTER/ADOPTER AND RESCUE*** A volunteer writes: Who would have known that Ronnie was such a beauty until she could finally be admired by all in the sunlight? Since her arrival at the care center, she could be found crouching and plastered to the back of her kennel, emitting a soft growl. I came to see her often, left roast beef at her door that she ate once I left. I talked to her as well. She occasionally made some attempts to take a closer look at me but then thought better and retired again to her hiding spot. Today was the day when I made my move.Ronnie had seen enough of me to know that I was may be a good human and that she could give me a chance. It took a little of juggling to leash her but no growl could be heard. After many days of confinement, Ronnie was overwhelmed by her new surroundings and behaved quite skittish, put off guards but the slightest noise. I think that she could have heard a needle falling on the ground…She walked fast, eliminating on the way, looking for exits and climbing the walls. I was comfortable enough with her though, and at some point let her free in a pen. Ronnie is such a gorgeous dog. Her body is long, trim without being underweight. Her coat looks like made of a rare Italian marble. She is so beautifully carved, so elegant. It took a while before Ronnie came to me and sat by my side, her back to me. She was extremely hand shy but accepted my caresses, glancing at me from time to time. She jumped on the bench at some point and settled very close to me, allowing me to pet her. Baby steps but steps forward anyway. She did not want to eat treats from my fingers. After a while, her tail came out from under her belly. The coming of other dogs around our pen seemed to perk her up in a nice way and she seemed surprisingly happy when some children came to say hi…I can not say that I know Ronnie well. We just started our courting but I saw hopeful signs that she is not the dog she appeared at first to be. Ronnie needs a little more time or even better…a person who will give her a chance to bloom in a home environment, safe and loved. Ronnie is at the Manhattan Care Center, wishing upon a star.
