Gauteng Marathon: I must say upfront that this year saw a massive improvement all round from the race organisers. I would like to say a very big THANK YOU to Nazeem Matthews (Race Director) as with his guidance many of the small issues form 2013 and 2012 were sorted out. A good idea to change the route slightly to avoid some of the traffic congestion, although made the race a little tougher hahaha. Having Finish Time on board this year was fantastic, and many thanks to Craig and his team for making our registration process streamlined and very easy this year. Fantastic, I do think that more races should use the services offered by Finish Time, just great to say the least. Results: well in an ideal world i was hoping that the athletes would win both men and woman marathons, but it wasnt to be. We managed to get 2nd (Fayera) and 5th Melly Kennedyin mens race and 1st (Florence) and 5th (Anylum) in ladies, with Benard Chebasa making a huge improvement from 2013 season running a very good time in the half marathon 69 mins for a 5th overall, and bear in mind he is only 19 years old. A special word of thanks to Intercape 32Gi Mark Wolff Phil Venter #Adidas for the continued support of our athletes and for believing in us and our long term vision with our athletes. Thank you to Claude Moshiywa for getting up early on Sunday morning to come to the race and help with the athletes, as well as a big thank you to my wife Donnette Davis for the live updating on social media during race day as always. I am blessed and thankful each day for all the support and the efforts put in by all, without this support system we could not do what we need to do, a Fantastic team all round - :)
