Glandore Championship regatta provided the perfect preparation for the rowers of the GalleyFlash in their build up to this weekend’s All-Ireland Finals in Carnlough, Co. Antrim. Victory in the Under 12 Ladies, Under 16 Ladies and Under 18 races mean the club leave on their epic journey up north in fine fettle. So with the final round of the championship still to be held on Sept 1st in Baltimore, the Under 12 Ladies and Under 18 crews both have claimed victory, uncatchable now, in their respective championships. The impressive Under 12 Ladies crew on Sunday were Alison Taylor, Elise Crowley, Aine O’Brien and Sinead O’Connor with Danny Hayes at the steer. Equally impressive were the Under 18 crew of Thomas Douglas, Nicky O’Hea, John Carroll and Conor Ryan with cox Julie Harrington. The winning Under 16 Ladies crew were Claire McCarthy, Keri Ahern, Sioned Miles and Eimear O’Keeffe with Danny Hayes again at the helm. Other crews to claim podium places in Glandore were the Under 14 ladies, Under 18 Ladies and Junior Men.
