Huckabee: Being A Human Today, the George Zimmerman Rorschach test…While Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were leading rallies against George Zimmerman, Zimmerman briefly resurfaced. He and another man spotted an overturned, burning SUV. Once again, he threw caution to the wind and got out of his truck. Only this time, he pulled a family of four to safety. Now, I could note the irony of two Reverends who throw people under the bus denouncing someone who pulls people out from under the bus. But what was more interesting was the public reaction. People who’ve made up their minds that Zimmerman is pure evil just couldn’t get their heads around the thought that he could also save four lives. Like 9/11 deniers, they lit up Twitter with conspiracy theories: it must’ve been staged for publicity, or maybe Fox News just made it all up. Never mind that ABC broke the story. These days, hyper-partisan media and political opportunists try very hard to make us forget that each of us simultaneously carries the capacity for both great heroism and bad decisions. It’s called being a human being.
