Gleanings from the Word Nothing in Common By sister miriam Our Inspirational Scripture 30 I will not talk with you much more, for the prince (evil genius, ruler) of the world is coming. And he has no claim on Me. [He has nothing in common with Me; there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and he has no power over Me. (John 14:30 AMP) We should be striving to get to that point where the prince of the world has nothing in common with us, and there is nothing in us that belongs to him. He can only use the things that are in us, that are not of God. How do we get to the point that there is nothing in us that belongs to the devil? We get there by living a holy life unto God. Living holy is a choice, we either choose to live for the devil, or live for God. As our Scripture below says, we make a ‘decisive dedication’ of our bodies. As it is written 12 I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. (Romans 12:1 AMP) We cannot say that we cannot live holy. God tells us to be holy, and He would not tell us to do something it was not in our power to do. Holiness, basically, is being set apart for God, and separation from the world. The Word says that we have been given all that we need pertaining to life and godliness. As it is also written 14 Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14 AMP) As it is written 15 But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living. 16 For it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy. (1 Peter 1:15-16 AMP) We can live holy, because in all actuality we have been given the power over all the power of the enemy. However, we cannot use that power if we do not know that we have it! When we read and study the Word, we will know who we are in Christ, and what we have in Him. As it is also written 19 Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you. 20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are enrolled in heaven. (Luke 10:19-20 AMP) In conclusion, we make no provision for the flesh; rather strive to crucify the flesh, and all its appetites, to live a holy and consecrated life for God. As it is written 14 But clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and make no provision for [indulging] the flesh [put a stop to thinking about the evil cravings of your physical nature] to [gratify its] desires (lusts). (Romans 13:14 AMP) Remember beloved of God, everything you’ll ever need… It’s all in The Word!
