Global wars keep changing their shapes and forms but their substance never changes. Wars have been fought for financial gain, regional advantage, religious mission, and racial supremacy. Many of them led to colonization of people in far off places that did not deserve to be enslaved or occupied. My mother (God bless her soul) was no historian but she knew plenty of oral history of her land passed on to her by her grandparents. Growing up as a child, I remember her taking me to a site on the bank of River Jhelum (Hydaspes to Greeks) and telling me this is where my people stopped Alexander and defeated the European invaders. I found it amusing because I learned in school just the opposite. But I could never shake off her reference as my people when nobody else in Pakistan felt the same way about the battle between Porus and Alexander the Great (see the attached painting by Charles Le Brun of the battle site without Porus elephants). It was not until I reached almost her age when she made that remark that I understood the full scope of her narrative. I realized that wars were all about the narrative that victors put on them. Most of them are false. The commentaries on todays Paris March is a case in point where all day Fox and other channels have been blurting out,We are at War with Islam.It is true that criminals who killed French journalists and grocery store customers had Muslim names but they were not practicing Muslims, otherwise they would not have committed these crimes. Let me quickly condemn their actions so that I can make my point. I had asked a question of Pakistani government after the Peshawar massacre of innocent children in my Mid December Post, Was a mass murder allowed to happen to achieve some political objective? I have the same question after todays march in Paris. The terrorists who carried out the attacks were convicted criminals who were under constant surveillance for many months by the French intelligence agencies who are always in close collaboration with CIA, MI6, and other global agencies. The targets were also under constant police security and surveillance. Reading Hollywood movie scripts and screenplays is a hobby of mine. No Hollywood movie director or screenplay writer could have scripted the outcome better than what we saw in Paris today. Let me share with you the script of Tomorrow Never Dies where the media tycoon whose motto was release tomorrows news today because you create the event and have exclusive control on the outcome. Good thing James Bond stopped him but reality is more cruel than fiction. The other script I would share with you is that of Mel Gibsons movie about the American Revolutionary War. His character Benjamin Martin suffers at the hands the Colonial British who burn his house and murder his son in front of him but Martin and fellow revolutionaries defeat Lord Cornwallis and force the British surrender in the end. American British Colonial War was simple in comparison to other wars because there was no racial aspect to it. Most other colonial wars have been racial as well as religious and financial in nature. We are at war but it has nothing to do with Islam, Judaism, or Christianity. It is a new colonial war for financial and military control of the world and one block of nations wants to build a new unipolar world. My attached photo shows the European leaders flanked by one side by the Jordanian & Palestinian Heads of State and on the other by Israeli Prime Minister. Nothing could be more descriptive of the new alliance. This is not to say that there are no desperate terrorists wanting to destroy their targets but most of them are state sponsored actors and act like the hired guns of Paris. Alexander also wanted to conquer the world and have a unipolar world under his exclusive control.
