Glorious and Holy Father I praise and am so thankful to You today because You are holy and righteous and set a standard for my life. I ask You to cleanse me of every speck of filth, sin and unrighteousness. I ask You to help me examine my speech, is there any speech that is rotten, foul, putrid or polluting? Do I have any corrupt talk, that would include cursing and unholy talk and even the worthless conversation that is so often carried on by people? Do I tear down or do I build up? Am I negative or am I positive with my words? Dear Lord I understand that a foul, filthy mouth kills character, its attractiveness, trust, faithfulness, morality, honor, and godliness. I ask You to help me and other believers to speak only that which is good and which will edify or build up people. I understand that speech is for the purpose of sharing good things, building up and strengthening people, ministering grace (favor, blessings) and helping each other as we plow through life. Help us to refocus and do just that. Lord, I think of A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver (Proverbs 25:11). I ask You to help each of us apply this verse in our communication. Dear Lord, help each of us speak words that will bring honor to You and in no way grieve the Holy Spirit. Slang words, curse words, filthy words, and so forth have no place coming out of a child of God. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
