Good Afternoon All, Please see information below regarding the new CA-EBS training requirement for all offshore workers in the UK travelling by helicopter. As ad-hoc workers, we recommend that you undertake this training as soon as possible in order to be ready for the 1st of September deadline. New CA-EBS Requirement The OPITO Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) Initial Deployment training programme has been approved and training commences from 14th July 2014. Designed for personnel travelling to or from offshore installations and vessels via helicopter where a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System is provided for use in the case of an emergency ditching, the standard provides the offshore workforce with the knowledge and understanding of the hazards and properties of the system; and appropriate emergency response actions to take. The programme has been developed to address initial equipment introduction training requirements only and is designed to be delivered in a dry training environment. The manufacturer has supplied training providers with the required equipment and training courses are now available to book. From the 1st of September 2014, all offshore workers in the UK travelling by helicopters supplied with a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System will be required to have completed this training. Training Summary Training duration will be 90 minutes approximately Costs approx £90 inc VAT Conducted in dry environment Consists of safety briefing video, demonstration and practical assessment Successful completion of training will be recorded in Vantage Aims and objectives: The aims and objectives of the training are to ensure that the delegate gains the required knowledge and understanding of the particular hazards and properties of a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) and appropriate practical emergency response actions to take should the requirement for emergency deployment arise. This programme has been developed to address initial equipment introduction training requirements only and is designed to be delivered in a dry training environment. Target audience: The Target group is personnel that are issued with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) whilst travelling to work by helicopter and may be required to use a CA-EBS in the event of an emergency. Delegate pre-requisites: Delegates must possess a valid BOSIET/FOET certificate including a valid HUET certificate prior to attending the OPITO Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) Initial Deployment Training programme.
