The high extends a ridge of high pressure along the Queensland east coast. An upper level trough lies over the southern interior and will push eastwards before moving off the southeast coast on Friday. A second, weaker upper trough will pass through southern Queensland over the weekend. Forecast for the rest of Thursday Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over southeastern Queensland, with showers tending scattered near the coast. Isolated showers about Cape York Peninsula. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate south to southeast winds, fresh about parts of the east coast. Friday 9 May Isolated showers for most of the east coast, tending scattered through southern areas in the morning. Cloud increasing over southwestern Queensland, with little or no rain late in the day. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate south to southeast winds, fresh about parts of the east coast. Saturday 10 May A firm ridge will persist along the Queensland east coast with isolated showers expected for far eastern Queensland. The new upper level trough should extend some cloud over the southern interior, though little or no rain is expected. Fine and mostly sunny across the remainder of the state. Sunday 11 May A firm ridge should be maintained over eastern Queensland with isolated showers continuing for coastal areas, tending scattered along the north tropical coast. The upper level trough will strengthen slightly, generating cloudy areas and some isolated showers over southeast parts of the state. Monday 12 May A firm ridge should be maintained over eastern Queensland as the next high pushes into the Tasman Sea. The onshore flow will lead to isolated showers along coastal areas of Queensland.
