Good and Caring Humans of Facebook, My nephew Joshua is a joy in our lives and a very special child. Please support his rights and so many others with the signing of this petition. In the words of my brother: By now, many of you have met Josh or seen pictures of him on our FB walls, so you know what an amazing and precious child he is. What you probably dont know is something we have been told since we received his prenatal diagnosis of Down Syndrome: he can never save any money or own anything in his own name. Because of federal tax codes written in 1974, we cant safely save money for Joshua, and he can basically never save money for himself or work in a real job without losing access to almost any programming and assistance he would otherwise receive. But now we have an opportunity to change that. Please consider taking sixty seconds to sign the petition to amend tax code 529 to allow people with disabilities to have penalty-free savings accounts, the same way that students and retirees do.
