I just received this in an e-mail sent from the Souderton Telford - TopicsExpress

I just received this in an e-mail sent from the Souderton Telford Main Streets. More proof that Souderton is not a bad community. Bad came into Souderton. An Open Letter to the Community Dear Friends and Neighbors, The dark days of December were recently made profoundly darker in our community by the tragic events of December 15. It is a day that I will revisit and reflect on for years to come. Many of us knew the victims. Many of us know their families, friends, neighbors, classmates, coworkers, and teachers. There are children who will never again hold hands with their parents, hug them in times of need. A young man, struggling to survive terrible physical wounds, has lost so many in his family. His struggles have just begun, and his emotional trauma is unimaginable to most of us. What does a community do to heal from such a tragedy? Just now the wound is too deep. It has carved into our community the greatest loss that I can remember. Our lives will be forever changed by the events on December 15. And our community will never quite be the same. I think especially of the surviving family members who have contributed in so many ways to the community of Souderton. My heart goes out to them, and I pray for them as they try to synthesize their very personal loss. But we must slowly return to the normalcy of routine and tradition as we take our first steps in the process of healing. It is with deep gratitude that I thank all community members for their response to this event. I thank the first responders, police, fire, and county personnel who handled the horrific events with professionalism and expediency. My thanks and admiration goes out to our schools – administrators, teachers and students who handled a very intense situation with calm, caring and decency. Thank you to the churches for their spiritual guidance at this very difficult time. And to our community members who remembered the victims with prayer, or honored them with a moment of silence, thank you. You continue to make Souderton a wonderful community. Light is also a part of the winter season. Lighted candles in windows and holiday light displays burn bright to provide warmth in the cold. They remind us to hope for better days, pray for peace in our lives, and allow joy into our hearts. I know Souderton will recover from its wounds and heal because we are a tightly knit community with a deep history of togetherness. We are a community that believes and thrives. We are all friends and neighbors, and I know with courage and strength we will recover and move forward from this terrible tragedy. John R. Reynolds, Mayor Souderton
