Good day Activists, Camissa Movement For Equality What a wonderful last few days I had interacting with leaders from the Khoi San Nation and Coloured community of SA at the Land Summit at the Birchwood Hotel. It was immensely educational and a real eye opener regarding the marginalization and discrimination affecting Brown people in SA. This marginalization and lack of investment into our communities is the main contributor to the myriad of socio-economic ills facing our communities I am the Chairperson of a recently started movement called Camissa Movement for Equality. We are a Community Cohension Intitiative established with the aim to assist Khoi San and Coloured people within SA. We are planning to unify all Khoisan, Coloured and other minorities under one banner so that we can have a stronger voice when we engage government to channel more resources and economic opportunities to our communities. As you are aware being Coloured is not a racial group per say but we consider being Coloured a lifestyle. The Coloured community is the Rainbow Nation of The Republic of South Africa. In the Coloured community we have ancestry from all racial groups in the world be it Khoi San, Black, Asian or European. Hence some of us look Khoi San others Black others Asian and others European. The promise of 1994 was that a New Rainbow Nation has been born but over the last 20 years the people who embodies the Rainbow Nation Status has been marginalized, discriminated against, has been made to feel like second class citizens, and we have been relegated to being foreigners in our own country. My vision is to start a lobby organization with the aim of establishing, entrenching, educating and building Khoi San and Coloured culture and identity. It also seeks to engage all the relevant stakeholders, particularly government and the chapter nine institutions around the inclusion of Khoi San and Coloured communities in key social, economic and political decisions affecting them. To date all the different groups which have tried to assist our communities have failed to make much headway to address the socio economic problems facing the Khoi San Nation and Coloured community. It is our sincere vision that if we unify under one mother body where we pool our resources we will be in a stronger position to address all our challenges We should work towards the equal recognition of the Khoi San and Coloured culture and identity We should engage with all role players for the social, economic and political inclusion and not seclusion of the Khoi San and Coloured population We should establish and build a sense of consciousness and pride among our people We must contribute to the national dialogue around issues affecting Khoi San and Coloured people We should develop programs that seek to directly uplift Khoi San and Coloured communities We should instill among all, Khoi San, Coloureds and other cultural groups, a sense of a common patriotic spirit We have had enough of ANC manipulation who sees us as not black enough when it comes to economic opportunities. We are only black enough when it comes to sporting achievements. But Coloureds are stirring and we recognize the excellent work Solidarity is doing for Coloured people. The reception I got from the leaders over the last few was a resounding Yes to unity among brown people. We at Camissa are working tirelessly to ensure that, the Unity conference happens. We are still in discussions with our sponsors for the conference and will keep everyone updated once we have agreed on a date for the conference.
