Good morning everyone and you won’t believe this……….but - TopicsExpress

Good morning everyone and you won’t believe this……….but it’s raining in Seattle. We are waiting for United States Customs and Immigration to allow us to start debarkation and as I sit here in my underpants I thought I would share some bits and pieces with you. So, here we go. We did not receive any comments about the Alaskan Earthquake and possible Tsunami warning. Guests will have seen it on the cabin TVs possibly and on the internet but obviously they all understood that the Tsunami warning was for an area many hundreds of miles away and so just got on with their day and enjoyed their time ashore. I read a few comments bollocking me for not telling the guests which I found very interesting indeed. Obviously I took advice from the Captain who took advice from USCG and from our office in Miami all confirming that there was no danger to the ship. That is what the decision not to get on the PA system and use the words “ ship, earthquake and Tsunami” was based on. We at Carnival and I as their employee believe in always keeping the guests informed about anything that affects their cruise vacation and the thousands of people who have cruised with will confirm that. Smart people with beards told me there was nothing to be worry about and so I did not worry the guests The guests had a great time and last night despite our late arrival because of rough seas and fog everyone seemed to have fun in Victoria. We had a Fog Horn complaint, a couple of guests not happy because their private tour operator charged a 50% cancelation fee but that aside it was a wonderful cruise and Alaska, as always gave the guests magical memories which were complimented by our wonderful crew. This morning we have 54 luggage cages for debarkation which means we have approx. 70% of the ship using self – assist – we just started at 7:35am with debark. Today’s blog will have all of this cruise’s details but it is interesting to note that your time dining is full at 905 guests. It’s popularity seems to be growing especially with first time cruisers. The assistant cruise director Stephanie leaves today for vacation. She did a wonderful job and I will be joined here for three weeks by the new ACD Jocelyn aka Shorty who I will assist in preparing for her role as one of the very first Entertainment Directors………………..providing of course she doesn’t injure herself by banging her head on a coffee table. I met many, many wonderful guests this cruise and so many who read this page and the blog. I do have to mention one reader ………….good morning Katie. Please, keep fighting. Don’t give up, your wonderful family are with you and that smile and that laugh that I saw this week will help you and when you are having your Chemotherapy next week put the DVD I gave you of the Marriage Show and see how you made 800 people laugh out loud with your infectious personality. You are in my thoughts now and always and I wish you nothing but happy and healthy times ahead. You will make your 30th birthday cruise on the Liberty and remember if you do, the Steakhouse is waiting for you and Mark, on me and much more besides. Stay strong Katie, stay strong.
