Good morning, friends. I found this video on how the Cookie Cart got started. I first met Sister Jean when I was in First grade. She used to come to OLG and share stories of kids she had met. She would bring a black and white picture every time. She talked about their family, or of how someone was shot, and how these kids came to her for love and a caring hand. She lived in North Minneapolis, one of the worst parts of Minneapolis. She lived in a house in the middle of the worst part. One time my mom took me over to her house to visit. She was so grateful to see us. I went on my own to see her about 10 yrs ago and she lit up when she saw me, she knew exactly who I was. Peanut Frey, of course I remember you! She told me this story of the Cookie Cart. There were a few nuns who impacted my life. She was one for sure. She was an angel and a bright light in a very dark neighborhood. Kids loved her and protected her and her house. I believe she is now in an assisted living somewhere in n mpls. Several years ago she published a book Echoes of the City or something.
