Gen. Reynor Gonzales, who are taking efforts to protect, maintain and package the municipality as one of Iloilos premiere eco-tourism destinations. With his enthusiasm, he created the Preliminary Working Group in-charge in developing an ecological and tourism park of the municipality. A three-hectare lake, located at the plateau on top of the mountain of Cabatangan, about 80 meters deep is an aquatic haven for its freshwater eel, carp and tilapia. Nestled at the foot of Mount Apog-Apog from the Iloilo-Antique border, Tinagong Dagat is a freshwater lake that is a 10-hour walk from Barangay Bagongbong -the last barangay reacheable by vehicle. Its adjacent forest is rich with dazzling flora and fauna with trees that reach dizzying heights, providing a refreshing breeze of air under its shades making the destination all the more inviting for campers. Lambunao claims as the Land of Waterfalls. One among the many which is the most visited and the most famous in the province is the Maasin Falls in Brgy. Sagcup. It can be reached by a 30minute ride from the Poblacion and 30-minute walk from the access road. It has an elevation of 30 feet, dropping 2,000 gallons of water per minute to a 500-square basin with a depth of 20-30 feet. Its mountain villages are also home to indigenous peoples, who, to these days, keep a distinct culture and oral literature. Thus, the towns festivity is a way of preserving its rich culture and heritage. Like the rest of festivals in the province, the municipality has its uniqueness and identity. Binanog Festival is a yearly activity every 2nd Sunday of January. It is based on the courtship of two banog birds, the festival dance is a living testimony to the natural artistry of Lambunaonons. The Binanog dance brings the soul of the Bukidnons to the limelight. It celebrates love and the spirit of the people as they perform to the symbolic beating of a gong. Each of the movements represents a commitment to action and involvement: the extension of the arms, the dignity of various foot works, and the recuperation of stillness. Performers pace themselves as they move to the steady heartbeat of the gong, they become one collective body. They dance for attention with each other. From the heart of their movements, the steps depict courtly pastime and stories that have been handed down over the generations. The views from within Lambunao ranges from the green mountains rising above the town to the poblacion with its landmark--the St. Nicolas de Tolentino Parish established in 1880 with its pinkish facade, the serene blue waters of its falls, the fascinating flora and fauna and the countless endangered species which can only be found in the forest of Panay and Negors. Indeed, Lambunao provides an ideal venue for communing with nature in all its splendor.
