#GoodCops Louise Le Roux: Public Servant News Network KwaZulu Natal: SAPS, BRIGHTON BEACH : GOOD WORK Clairwood Business Robbers Netted On the 31st of August 2014 a business premises situated in Richborough Road Clairwood was robbed at gunpoint by eight(5)five perpetrators. The group entered the premises and two held up the security guard with a toy gun and tied him up. The (5) five men team then started off loading R 20 000.00 worth of cooking oil. Whilst off loading the trucks they found another (2) two occupant inside a truck, they were instructed to climb out and were also tied up. Members attached to the SAPS, Brighton Beach Task Team received information on the 5th of September which led them to an informal settlement with in the Clairwood area. They found (7) seven males at the premises. During preliminary questioning it was established that another (4) four people were involved in the business robbery. The (8) eighth perpetrator was also arrested later that afternoon by Brighton Beach Detective Warrant Officer Marius Van Der Looyi. They were all charged for business robbery although they used a toy gun and appeared in the Durban’s Magistrate Court on the 8th of September. Two of the perpetrators pleaded guilty to armed robbery and was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment each. SAPS, Brighton Beach Management commends all the members involved for the manner in which they followed up on the intelligence they gathered with regards to business robbery which resulted in the arrest of the (8) eight perpetrators. Detective Warrant Officer Marius Van Der Looyi is also commended for the manner in which he had conducted his investigation which resulted in the imprisonment of two of the perpetrators. Finger print analysis is awaited and possible linkages are expected for the balance of the perpetrators. The outstanding (3) three suspects are being sought by Brighton Beach Detectives.
