Got some more news on my 15 yr old semi-feral girl. Definitely a mixture of good and bad. :/ Her kidneys and liver look good, but her pancreas is inflamed, shes mildly hyperthyroid, and there was nothing to indicate a possible cause for her balance issues other than cancer in her brain. Cytology on the aspirate from the mass in her abdomen shows a mast cell tumor, and we know that her lungs are already involved. Dr. Jereb is going to speak with an oncologist on Monday to get their further interpretation of the results, and see what they would suggest as a treatment plan. Were going to discuss everything further on Monday or Tuesday, and come up with a plan. In the meantime, were taking things one day at a time, keeping her comfortable and happy, and seeing what she tells us. Her appetite is good, she isnt vomiting or having diarrhea, shes alert, and doesnt seem unhappy. She mainly sleeps, but shes 15 so that doesnt seem abnormal to me. Shes no longer frantic to go outside, probably because shes using the litter box now, so thats a relief. Lots of things to consider and decisions to be made. Im going to try to reach out to organizations that might be able to help on a financial level, so that cost doesnt have to be the deciding factor. If theres a possibility that she can have a longer life and that it would be quality time for her, Id like her to have that. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
