Government bombards Damascus suburbs October 31, 2013 12:11 AM BEIRUT: A Syrian army shelling of Damascus killed six people Wednesday and 11 others died in a rebel attack on an Alawite village in central Syria, an opposition activist group said. The army targeted the southern Damascus neighborhood of Al-Hajar al-Aswad, killing “a woman, three children and two men,” the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. In central Damascus, several people were wounded when mortar bombs launched by rebels landed near Baghdad Street and in the Qassaa neighborhood, the group said. Opposition activists also reported heavy government shelling of the Yarmouk Palestinian camp on the outskirts of Damascus.
