Governor Tom Corbett is right on the pension issue. We should have - TopicsExpress

Governor Tom Corbett is right on the pension issue. We should have done real pension reform. The Senate passed pension reform that affected the legislators, the judicial branch and executive branch. The House refused to vote even on that. That said, the pension bill we passed wasnt nearly good enough but we didnt have the votes for more. We had 23 or 24 and we needed 26. I have been constantly pushing to change NEW employees, including legislators on election and re-election, coming into the system. The unions have been scaring the crap out of their employees, and some legislators, about changing the system by telling them their pensions are at risk, which is an outright mistruth. Constitutionally the legislature CAN NOT change anything for people presently in the system. I know, I know, this posting will start the defending of the status quo by folks who are in the system and who are believing their union leaders who are getting them all whooped up with non truths. But, Im glad to engage everyone because everyones children and grandchildren, union and non, will be on the hook as our Commonwealth continues down the path of non sustainability unless huge tax increases, including Personal Income Tax increases, become reality. Please, will the union leadership stop digging their heels in and come to the table and be part of the solution to this crisis? (My dad was a steelworker so its not about union vs. not, its about leadership on both counts). Sorry I sound like a broken record....
