Grace vs. Works? Not so. So also faith, if it does not have - TopicsExpress

Grace vs. Works? Not so. So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead). James 2:17 Grace without works is dead. Imagine Jesus came to earth but once upon earth did not accomplish any of the over 300 prophesies about his life present in the old testament. Imagine he did not condescend to suffer the cross. Then you and I would still be dead in our sins, and have no temple to make a sin offering before God. What made Jesus, Christ was the work he did which fulfilled the LAW and the PROPHETS and brought SALVATION to man by becoming the doorway to heaven. Jesus did the work. If we want to be like Jesus, we must put our belief into practice. For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved ([a]delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God; Ephesians 2:8 We are saved by Grace, so why do Christians continue to do good works, if their place in heaven is already assured by simply believing that Jesus Christ is Lord? For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]. Ephesians 2:10 God gave me a list of good works to accomplish, not to gain entry to heaven, but to keep me busy while I wait upon the Lord.
