Great work you writers and fighters speaking truth to power. We have 21 comments beneath this one already. Some of them are in this message for you to share widely. There are other links on my wall that still need comments made. Wait until the public sees the prison guards torturing the mentally ill inmates now that the LA Times won a ruling that this info must be released to you the voters. Now you know that a public outcry (you posting in news forums, suing, protesting, and organizing) bring results, correct? Alone we are one voice, but when we all got together, we put the most powerful group of bullies in the state on the hot seat. It took a lot of work, some prisoners were tortured over it, but at this moment, we are winning this battle. Keep it your public noise for a little while longer. I am very proud of all of you who actually do the posting in news forums! Victory is not only sweet, it can save lives, which is why I called you all to action for a decade. Thanks everyone, for fighting for yourself and others. You will want to communicate with the UN inspector directly in addition to posting in the news forums about your lawsuits. latimes/local/political/la-me-ff-un-torture-investigator-seeks-access-to-california-prisons-20131018,0,15846.story Whatsdmtr at 10:55 AM October 19, 2013 You dont have to be related to a prisoner to be outraged by lawlessness in prisons or the violation of the Constitution, which sets limits on the power of government. The deprivation of liberty is a punishment authorized by law. The denial of life-sustaining treatment violates the law. The needless infliction of pain by agents of the government violates the law. Its past time that correctional authorities ferret out those in their ranks that bring their profession into disrepute and cost taxpayers 10s of millions in settlements and verdicts. And for people who dont think prison is punitive enough, its long past time to get a clue. Abuse and torture is not in the job description for being a guard/correctional officer as some prefer to be called. Its against our constitution and everything America stands for. 1 agrees 1 disagrees ----------------------- JamieNova at 11:13 AM October 19, 2013 My point is that we treat convicts better than our elders and children. They get 3 squares, healthcare, dental, and job training all courtesy of the tax-payers. 1 1 ---------------------------------- BCayenneBird at 12:25 PM October 19, 2013 Jamie Nova, the medical care falls below regular community standards in prison which is against the law. There is no dental care, no replacement teeth, no root canals. If anything, the teeth are pulled and never replaced. Money is appropriated for medical care but it never really reaches the prisoners. People with severe back injuries are living in extreme cold in the winter, forced to sleep on a 1 inch mattress, at best a 2 mattress and not given enough blankets. There are spiders, disease, rats and mice, its horrible what has been going on. The many lawsuits try to stand up to the abuses, but judges like Jay Bybee do everything possible to throw out such lawsuits. There are thousands of them pending. 0 0 ----------------------------- BoastingPublicEmployees at 10:53 AM October 19, 2013 Its another attempt by the UN to impose world authority upon the inner functions of the USA. That said, nothing instills fear into a government more than someone operating as an independent observer.... with the ability to publish findings world wide. CA prisons and CA government do, without a doubt, allow sadistic guards inside the prison system to do as they please. That was proven some years back when the FBI investigated and CONFIRMED that CA prison guards at Corcoran State Prison were instigating violence by placing opposing gangs inside the same prison yards. The guards were proven, by the FBI, to be doing that... laughing about it... and betting on the winning gang members. The CA prison guards union was seething angry at the FBI.... to the point where two prison guard thugs followed the FBI agents back to Sacramento in a brazen attempt to intimidate them. 2 agree 1 disagrees ---------------------------- Salamero at 10:46 AM October 19, 2013 we need to change the illegal Unconstitutional laws that make criminals out of people who sell raw milk, and people who are not wearing their seatbelts, or people who demand government accountability. 2 agrees 1 disagrees ----------------------------- BoastingPublicEmployees at 10:55 AM October 19, 2013 Salamero: What you are saying, correctly, is that American government dreams up laws to empower themselves and to control the public. Get a job in the American justice system... and you have a job for life... due to all those thousands of dreamed up laws that come out of government every year. 3 agree 1 disagrees Salamero at 10:41 AM October 19, 2013 the UN war criminals should get out, and stay out. Reply 2 agree 1 disagrees ---------------------------------- Deanna Brownen at 11:13 PM October 18, 2013 First of all, if the UN has to step in then something is terribly wrong! Next, people who are serving short terms often get locked down to their cells 23.5 hours per day and only get out for about 20-30 minutes for a shower, which time they are in shackles and only get about 3-5 minutes for a shower......This is inhumane, double jeopardy, cruel and unusual punishment and torture........Being in prison is the punishment, to add further punishment to that for doing what it takes to survive in prison is an increase to the original punishment! Stop torture and inhumane practices in California prisons! I call for video monitoring in all areas of a prison at all times!!! 5 3 ================== lewisgunner at 7:24 AM October 19, 2013 Deanna Brownens rant translated into honest citizenese- boo hoo hoo, oh boo hoo hoo, the poor little thugs who murder, rape, maim, assault, torture, rob, and terrorize the honest citizens are being treated like the little thugs that they are. Oh boo hoo hoo boo hoo hoo. 3 1 ======================= BoastingPublicEmployees at 10:58 AM October 19, 2013 CA government and its justice system fear any kind of observation from outsiders. Once youre locked inside, its just you and the guards. No media to report on sadistic abuse by the guards. Notice how the scum government slugs intentionally draggeg their feet for the last 20 years in an attempt to refuse to comply with basic, minimum humane treatment of inmates ?? That refusal by CA government, including by Gov Jerry Brown, has just resulted in the US Supreme Court having to order Brown and his justice system to comply. So, yes, something is dangerously wrong inside the farce of a justice system. And thats why the death penalty is not a good thing to have. Public employees cannot be trusted to carry it out properly... or humanely. 1 1 ------------------------------- BCayenneBird at 12:07 PM October 19, 2013 Treat people as animals and they will respond in kind every time. Prison employees need more education about brain disease. We have many mentally ill people in prison who cannot follow the rules of society. Thats why theyre diagnosed as being mentally ill. Prison makes them much worse. The guards routinely break state and federal laws. These crimes against society are harming everyone. The lack of accountability by members of law enforcement is resulting in crimes against the prisoners, which also violate their children and family members. 1 0 ------------------------------- BCayenneBird at 12:08 PM October 19, 2013 Lewisgunner, you would lead everyone to believe that people are in prison only for violent crimes. This is not the truth and you know it. 0 0 --------------------------------- lewisgunner at 12:21 PM October 19, 2013 BCayenne, Name one crime that anyone is in prison for that did not cause harm to others, themselves, or citizenry in general. 0 0 ------------------------------------ edwardskizer at 9:56 PM October 18, 2013 If this UN stooge wants to get into a California prison, then he should commit a crime that will get him a term in prison. Until then, butt out, just go back to UN headquarters and count your bribe money or something. 3 1 ---------------------------- BCayenneBird at 12:10 PM October 19, 2013 The desperate family members and Supreme Court case, not to mention thousands of other wrongful death and torture lawsuits have finally resulted in the United Nations getting involved. It is way past time that they did so. 1 0 -------------------------- Dr. What at 8:42 PM October 18, 2013 The U.N. torture investigator can start by turning around and head back towards the African continent. As a bonus, the investigator should stop by North Korea. American prisons are nothing but mere hotels to these thugs. Tax payers pay the heaviest price on top of that. Reply 6 1 BCayenneBird at 12:12 PM October 19, 2013 California prisons are operated at unlawful levels. Norways prisons are the best, and have resulted in the lowest recdivism and lowest crime rates in the world. The citizens are no longer going to stand by silently and not object to torture and murder of prisoners, many of whom are mentally ill or veterans suffering from PTSD. 0 0 --------------------------------------- JamieNova at 4:00 PM October 18, 2013 And after the UN Inspectors are done with that, they should go visit some of the Old Age Homes, Elder Care facilitys, and foster homes run by the state. Then they should compare notes. I wonder how our prisons stack up next to other nations? 4 0 --------------------------------------- Deanna Brownen at 11:15 PM October 18, 2013 The prisons in California are awful compared to other nations, you should check it out! Most other nations treat drug addiction as a disease not a crime. 1 3 ----------------------------------------- cottageindustry at 10:48 AM October 19, 2013 Deanna, sounds like you did check it out. How was your stay? 3 1 ------------------------------ BoastingPublicEmployees at 11:01 AM October 19, 2013 CottageIndustry: Care to comment on Los Angeles Sheriff BACA? Aside from being under FBI investigation for over a year now, he also was just ordered by a Federal Jury to pay civil damages out of his own pocket for his intentional failure to safeguard inmates under his control. Oh, wait. Badge worshippers like yourself dont care about that kind of thing, right? At least... not until you get caught yourself engaging in criminality and your badge isnt protecting you. Right? Then you snivel... like BACA supporters are sniveling right now... its not far. Boo hoo. 2 3 ------------------------------------ Linda L R Roberts Deanna Brownen Robert L.
