Growing danger of a serious shortfall in Army personnel - Jim Murphy Jim Murphy MP, Labour’s Shadow Defence Secretary, commenting on reports of a fall in Army recruitment, said: "The chaotic Capita contract is failing to meet targets and objectives and is undermining the strength of the British Army in the process. "There is a growing danger of a serious shortfall in Army personnel. "Deep cuts to manpower combined with falling Army recruitment and failing reserve recruitment could deny the frontline of the forces and skills required. "Government reforms to the Army have left personnel under-valued and under-powered. These figures raise real alarm bells as to the long-term damaging impact of this government’s defence policies."
